Business Analyst

PURPOSE OF ROLE:

This role is an exciting opportunity for an experienced business manager to work closely with key members of the Senior Leadership team to influence strategy, create new business opportunities and to develop and monitor the Company’s business plan.

KEY TASKS:

  • Managing the ongoing development and monitoring of the company business plan
  • Working with the COO and Team leads on connecting team operations to business plan objectives and identifying misalignment
  • Reporting on key deliverables associated with the business plan
  • Working with the CEO on strategy
  • Working with CEO and CBD on new business opportunities
  • To lead the company’s international expansion plans
  • To manage existing strategic partnerships
  • To assist in the development of new strategic partnerships
  • To operate as a member of the senior management team
  • Assessing new business opportunities together with the CBD officer.
  • To work with the CEO on long term sustainability and investor engagement
  • Negotiating new contracts with partners/ clients

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 3 years Business Management experience, preferable in the healthcare sector

AI Scientist

We are hiring an AI Scientist to support the company in delivering its core aim of transforming mental health research through the use of real world medical data. The company is working in this highly innovative area of research to accelerate the development of new treatments and service improvements in mental health and dementia. The role will require strong research skills with a focus on artificial intelligence approaches to natural language processing. A successful candidate will work on developing our existing technology solutions, develop novel applications of AI to solve challenges in the mental health space, and support our users in industry, academia and the NHS to apply our AI-derived data for their own research programs. Further details of the duties are provided below.

 

KEY TASKS:

  • Help design and implement NLP AI algorithms to analyse medical text, with special emphasis on clinical information extraction.
  • Develop novel applications of AI to enable transformative research using electronic mental health data.
  • Train and coordinate medical text annotators, who will generate training and testing data for your algorithms
  • Work with our clinical research team to deliver research projects with NHS, academic and industry partners using Akrivia’s database of 3 million+ AI-enriched mental health patient records.
  • Write project reports, research papers, create presentations to disseminate project results and run workshops to showcase our technology platform.
  • Identify and prepare grant applications to support internal and collaborative research projects.
  • Work with the Data Engineering team to implement newly developed AI solutions and test new platform features
  • Work with our team of Clinical Advisors to develop a deep knowledge base for mental health EHR data
  • Support NHS data partners to develop their own research programs, including technical queries, project development and grant support
  • Develop collaborations with academic teams to expand the research usage of our data.
  • Use initiative and creativity to identify areas for research, develop new research methods and grow the Company research portfolio.

 

YOU BRING WITH YOU:

  • Senior-level role: 2 years+ experience deploying NLP (Transformer/BERT architecture preferred) in an operational setting
  • Mid-level role: PhD qualification (or equivalent industry experience) with a focus on AI research
  • Strong research background in AI and related methods, including:
    • Experience with NLP methods (e.g., Named Entity Recognition, Relation Extraction, Contextual Embedding, Text Classification, Coreference resolution).
    • Experience working with Neural Network architectures (e.g., BERT, Transformer, LSTM, CNN)
    • Experience working with ML implementations of statistical models (e.g., Logistic Regression, Random Forest, Hidden Markov Models)
  • Strong programming skills:
    • Proficient in Python, with experience in core analytics & AI packages (e.g., numpy, pandas, Pytorch, transformers, NLTK, scikit-learn, spacy)
    • Experience in SQL (PostgreSQL preferred but not required)
  • Experience writing reports and research publications to a professional standard
  • Keen interest in mental health and dementia (sector experience desirable)
  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Ability to translate complex concepts and communicate these with a variety of stakeholders in multiple formats e.g. verbal, written documents, PowerPoint presentations.

HIGHLY DESIRED:

  • Sector experience in mental health research, data and/or care provision (especially in the NHS context) and/or clinical trials
  • Expert knowledge of AI applications for natural language processing (especially the BERT model), predictive modelling or data imputation
  • Advanced statistical skills, particularly predictive modelling for time-series data, clinical trial methods (especially use of external/retrospective control data), synthetic data generation
  • Track record in leading and delivering projects (especially analytic projects) to client specifications and strict deadlines
  • Experience working in a collaborative version control workflow (e.g., Git)

Software Engineer

We are hiring an experienced software engineer to help build out our data processing and machine learning platforms.

Your role is to work with our Data Engineering, Research and AI teams to help build out the backend infrastructure for all our products.

This may involve working with big data technologies such as Map Reduce, Hadoop, Spark in order to solve issues in our Cloud computing environments.

You will communicate with other members of your team to help each other in your tasks, and with the broader employees at Akrivia Health to facilitate to overall mission of the company. Your colleagues will expect you to have some knowledge of AI and NLP, and be enthusiastic about furthering this experience.

Your Role:

  • Build out various backend server projects (APIs, data pipeline, big data projects, etc.)
  • Take models from AI research and integrate with production pipeline
  • Assist AI team in developing NLP algorithms to analyse medical text, with special emphasis on information extraction
  • Help solve scaling issues with our cloud services (AWS)
  • Working with the Data Engineering team on NLP pipeline
  • Maintaining and running existing models across continuously updated data estate

 

You Bring with you:

  • Experience dealing with big data.
  • Experience using AWS or other cloud services
  • Academic and scientific experience in the form of a MSc in computer science, mathematics, engineering or another numerate field, or equivalent industry experience

Key Skills:

DevOps Engineer

We are hiring an experienced DevOps Engineer to lead our operational work in developing the Akrivia Health platform, previously known as UK-CRIS, and support the Company and our customer needs (NHS, academia and industry) to get the most from the platform.  The role will require flexibility providing both technical and practical input into the ongoing design and development work for the platform, daily operations, and supporting the company as needed to achieve its objectives.

Tasks

  • Building, setting up, and managing our development and production environments in AWS.
  • Translates loosely defined requirements into solutions and participates in software and systems architecture for our internal and external solutions.
  • Manages or supports operational incidents.
  • Designing, implementing, and operating backup, restore, and disaster recovery operations.
  • Enforcing Akrivia’s Security Policy, participating in policy development and implementing relevant tools.
  • Daily management, support, monitoring of internal and external IT landscape.

Key Requirements

  • Good knowledge of AWS cloud environment including operations, monitoring and automation.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and Gitlab.
  • Experience with infrastructure scripting solutions such as Terraform (Ansible, Puppet etc)
  • Previous experience in Linux system administration (Centos/Debian preferred)
  • Some knowledge of Python and Bash scripting
  • Understanding of networks and network security particularly AWS VPC’s
  • The desire to help build a team for the long term.

Optional

  • Experience with Kubernetes / EKS.
  • Knowledge of microservice architectures with Docker/containers.
  • Experience of Microsoft Office 365, Azure AD, Intune.
Project Manager

PURPOSE OF ROLE:

An experienced project manager who can utilise their skills and experience in various types of projects. Working closely with various teams within the company, the role of project manager at Akrivia is to drive and facilitate internal and client-focussed projects from identifying requirements, scoping, planning, executing, managing various stages, efficient reporting and closing projects.

KEY TASKS:

  • Setting out and agreeing the project plan and timescales.
  • Leading planning sessions and driving projects through to successful delivery,
  • Engaging and motivating often multiple client stakeholders and internal support staff,
  • Understanding and identifying the risks and dependencies,
  • Managing challenges and resolving problems,
  • Maintaining excellent Communication at all levels.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Strong familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices
  • Prince2 trained and able to develop the full suite of project documentation to a high standard e.g. project initiation documents, highlight and exception reports, risk and issues logs, status updates, proposals, briefs as required.
  • Knowledge and experience of delivering health IT projects
