GlobalMinds

Akrivia leads GlobalMinds precision neuroscience initiative to accelerate research and treatment development

GlobalMinds is a 50,000-participant precision neuroscience initiative developed and led by Akrivia Health, designed to improve diagnostic accuracy and uncover novel treatment options for the most challenging conditions in neuropsychiatry and neurodegenerative medicine.

Unique Clinical and molecular Insights

GlobalMinds is recruiting patients with severe mental illness or neurodegenerative conditions, linking study data with their longitudinal clinical record through the Akrivia CRIS platform.  This will create a world-leading asset to accelerate research and targeted treatment development.

The programme will enable rapid therapeutic development powered by a unique and detailed dataset that will provide the most accurate picture of those living with severe mental health conditions, to date.

The dataset will combine not just genomic data but also biomarkers, cell lines, deeply-qualified phenotype data on their disease and treatment history, as well as patient reported outcomes.

The resulting precision neuroscience cohort provides unparalleled insight into the lives of patients with these conditions, unlocking new targets for therapeutic discovery and opportunities to help improve service delivery.

This could lead to improvements in prediction, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of these conditions in the future.

partnerships

GlobalMinds is delivered in collaboration with NHS organisations in Akrivia’s research collaboration network, global leaders in mental health genomics at Cardiff University, leading mental health charities and, crucially, individuals with lived experience.

Our collaboration partners are equally passionate about transforming the future of mental health and dementias research through the ethical use of clinical data.

GlobalMinds is funded by the Wellcome Trust and Johnson & Johnson* (*Janssen Pharmaceutica).

The Role of Lived Experience In GlobalMinds

This is a mental health study powered by people – for people.

Lived experience plays such a crucial role in this programme. By working closely with people whose lives have been directly impacted by mental health conditions, we can gain a deeper understanding of these conditions, have a more meaningful impact on communities, and change lives.

Anyone who has a current or historic diagnosis of schizophrenia, bipolar, major depression, or a related condition, in an area where their local NHS Trust is collaborating with GlobalMinds, can take part. The study also includes patients with dementia who will be asked to take part directly by the NHS.
